Lord Have Mercy! Have Mercy, O Lord! When school bells stopped ringing When voices are silenced by gunshots When innocent lives are stolen, When there’s terror and fear. We need You O Lord! Trouble is near. Lord Have Mercy! O God, Who moves the hands of clocks, Who jumpstarts and awakens a sluggish heart, Who fills lungs with air and restores each breath. Eternal God, with us in life and in times of death. We park and pray at 1:11, for lives lost and broken families. Lord Have Mercy! Put away the weapons and remove the rage Disarm those who harm and fail to protect, Who lack humane dignity and respect, Lord, we pray for those injured, in pain and suffering.
It’s a habit, reflexive, ingrained, intuitive and spontaneous.
It’s 1:11 and it’s time to 🙏🏾.
Time to press the reset button in my day and in my life.
Reset back to a peaceful time. Yes, it’s time to get centered. Time to connect with the Holy. Praying renews my strength.
One day while shopping at 🛌 🛀 and Beyond I parked my 🛒 in a quiet corner of the store. I leaned forward and rested on my 🛒.
I parked and 🙏🏾 at 1:11pm.
Holy One, thank you for watching and waiting for us to call you. O God, we need you. We need you to shine your Light in the darkest places in our society. Destroy hatred and injustice. It’s evil, contagious and it’s killing your people.
“Let the wicked abandon their way of life and the evil their way of thinking. Let them come back to you O God, who is merciful.” Isaiah 55:7
Gracious God, “deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” In Our Savior’s Name. Amen
Wait! What do you see? A Star? Red, white, blue and green? A wooden Cross? A chandelier? Candlelights, sunlight and our reflections? A Choir of witnesses?
Yesterday, we prayed as we lit a candle for each state that experienced incidents of mass gun violence in 2018. We prayed for our nation and world.
Imagine, our nation held numerous Prayer Vigils and devoted more than 275 days praying for peace, comfort and an end to Gun Violence. God hears our prayers. God is still speaking. Are we still listening?
Candlelights eventually fade yet, a prayer is like an endless flame. We are called to pray without ceasing.
What if we lit a candle daily?
Today is Advent, a time to wait, watch,
When you Park, and Pray at 1:11 pm try lighting a candle.
Light a candle, watch it, hold it and imagine you’re holding a prayer. Ask God to “give you this day your daily bread” in other words fulfill your needs.
Seek the Great Light of God and allow that light to enter those dark places in your life and the lives of others.
A Prayer at 1:11 pm
God of life, Light of the world,
God of Peace and Protection.
Your presence is profound,
Your work is beyond our imagination,
You do impossible things,
Your joy is our strength,
You fill us with Your grace,
You give us ways to conquer our fears,
You heal our brokenness.
You lead us out of our wilderness.
Help us to be a candlelight in the midst of darkness.
