How can we measure the kind of hatred that propels someone to ram a car into a peaceful crowd, murder and maim innocent bystanders?
What inspires a group to adopt hatred as a central platform?
Why have we tolerated their hateful venom that disrupts so many lives? Some people want to roll back America to a horrible, oppressive and painful time. It seems to be a motive that resonates beyond their group and breaks the heart strings of our democracy. Others want to “Take our country back!” While still others sing, “This land is your land, this land is my land…This land was made for you and me!” We sing, “My country tis of thee…” It is a sweet and sour land that promises liberty and opportunities. But many folks unite and declare hatred will no longer hold us down.
Rolling back America is truly about rolling America forward. It’s about rolling up our sleeves and working together to dismantle and stop the hemorrhage of lawful hatred. Lawful hatred is often unrecognized and barely vindicated.
As America struggles to recover from another Stroke (an assault on our heart and brain power), we will never fully recover without a prayerful intervention. Waiting for our leaders to denounce the culprits is not the answer. I find too often the response is tepid and heartless. The answer lies deep within each one’s heart and soul. Let us unite and seek wisdom and strength from Almighty God. Let us pray for Agape love, a selfless love that inspires us to love God, love ourselves and share our love. We can begin by discovering our neighbors and loving one another perhaps one neighbor at a time. Let us park and pray at 1:11 pm then, fasten our seat belts and allow the Divine to navigate the path forward.
Let Us Pray
Almighty God, storm clouds are hovering over America and many are depending on self serving and ill prepared leaders to guide us. Some of us who try to navigate the rough terrains on our own become frustrated. After exhausting all options known we turn to you. We pray until we find relief and give up praying. God, although some of us stop praying and give up on you, you never give up on us. You love us unconditionally. Thank you for your grace and mercy. Almighty God, we need you to fight battles that are centuries old. Many of our gains are threatened. God we desperately need you. Hatred and fear are lethal weapons that are eroding our society. Lord have mercy. Show us the way. O God, break the chains of hatred and deliver us from evil. Inspire us and equip us with the tools to work with you to dismantle and eradicate racism, fascism, xenophobia and all threats to our society. Our name is powerless. We pray in Christ’s name.
